Buses used to have two decks, now they are bendy.

Tourists used to buy postcards, now they take snaps on their camera-phones.

Taxis used to be black.

Working ships used to come to the docks with goods from all over the World, now pleasure cruisers bring rich people from all over the World.

Telephone boxes used to be solid structures made of cast iron, now they are flimsy structures made of pressed steel. Most people prefer to use their mobiles.

This station used to be welcoming, it isn't at the moment.
|
Ambulances used to take you to hospital, now they might help fix your puncture.
|
This city used to have the most important bank in the World, now it is a World leader in cashpoint machines and credit card debt.
|
People used to laugh and talk at lunchtime, now many of them have to work.
|
People used to drink real beer, now most prefer a cold glass of fizzy chemicals.
|
Bridges were primarily for traffic, now there are pedestrian only bridges.
|
People used to smoke at work, now they hang around outside.
|
Charity shops used to be dingy second-hand shops run by little old ladies.
|
Drivers used to be trusted, now they are a new criminal class.
|
The Evening Standard used to be London's worst evening paper. It still is, but now it is London's only evening paper.
|
Traitors and criminals used to take a ride through these, now they get a ride in one of these.
|
I used to understand the grafitti, but now I'm just too old!

Creative post -so many wonderful, interesting shots and comparisons! Seems like some changes are for the better - and some are definitely not! Lived in England back in the 70's - thanks for the update :)
