Lessons From Trying To Shoot Kite Surfers:
1. Pay close attention to getting the horizon level. It is more annoying having it out by 1 or 2 degrees than being out by 10 or more.
2. Watch out for clouds, they leave shadows on the water that can ruin a shot.
3. Shots that are very close up (showing the actions and facial expressions) and those that are very wide (showing the colours of all the kites) seem to work the best. Those that are in the middle range seem to fall between two stools.
4. Shots where the surfer jumps out of the water look the most dramatic. If possible, I think it is best to catch them just above the horizon. Below the horizon doesn't look so dramatic. In front of the horizon is distracting. Too high in the air and you lose all frames of reference.

Good points! It's so hard to be aware of "everything" when shooting. Great set, love the wide angles with all the colors.
