250. The Driest Village

2009.07.24
So Jon, why do you have so many brollys in your garden if it's so dry?

Don't look at the flowers, look at the lawn!

OK, not the proverbial golf balls, but it is July.

The drains don't like it.

Nice pond you've got. That's not a pond, it's the path by our back door.

Our new patio. It's been finished for a week now. So far we've only had the chance to sit there for about an hour.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Great Wakering, the driest village in England. And by that fact, the driest in the British Isles (go on just tell me there's a drier place in Wales, Ireland or Scotland). Not dry in the alcoholic prohibition sense. Oh no, five pubs, three licenced clubs and Mrs Jarvo's personal Wine Keller mean its not dry in that sense. No, when I say dry I mean you can probably go out without your umbrella and not worry too much. But not today.

dontblink So was that the yearly allotment of rain?

eternity65 ah, don't worry Jon, we have the same weather here also (with thunder and natural fireworks :-) ).
I remember the days when i was a young warrior and my great grand father used to tell me wonderful stories of a big warm yellow ball high up in the sky,. Which they called the sun (not that newspaper with a page three girl, but a real sun high up in the sky) That used to shine all summer long. Oh how i wish i had lived in those days of old and seen it. :-)))

Hold on Jon, there's talk of better weather for tomorrow and Sunday,........................
..............
at least for Belgium :-))

Nice set though, love shot 5 a lot

etodd80 Impressive rain and hail! Good to hear that its not dry in the sense of prohibition! :-) Great looking patio!

tedbarlow I heard that the wettest place in the UK is Crymych...a small Welsh town quite near to us.
Here for the last week we have had torrents of the stuff...today I tried to photograph the rain of cats and gods, but it came down upon us too hard and fast for even a good photo...
Tommorrow I sing at a wedding, and in the evening attend a BBQ...despite the forecast of better things for the weekend I don't hold my breath...

jet28 You really copped it, didn't you? Love #5 :-)

We had a hail storm just after we moved into our house a few years ago and had to have the whole roof replaced!
