Hundreds maybe thousands of pill boxes were built in Southern and Eastern England in WWII. In fear of a land invasion.

Concrete blocks next to a pill box. Designed to stop tanks they are now used to stop cyclists.

Many pill boxes are now bricked up.
|
Some are homes for horses.
|
Others a backdrops for horses.
|
Nowadays many are covered in grafitti.

Mmmm... Here there are some of these, built during the Civil War. Last photo is the best for me, very creative!

nice set, we still have loads of them here in the dunes, all part of the Atlantic wall, with most of them being in and around Oostende. One of the sites has even become a tourist historic attraction, but haven't been yet :-/ Did one of the other a while ago though, a fenced off one again off course, wouldn't be so much fun otherwise ;-)) haha Nina will be a really lucky girl....................if she stays away from that guy :-)

Wonderful set....Pill boxes just seem to blend into the background unnoticed....and as you say there are quite a few left for us to preserve.
