I thoroughly enjoyed the P365 that I did up until November -though it has to be said, I've also enjoyed my six week break afterwards. I had my doubts when I first started as to whether I'd find enough subject matter to keep going for a whole year, but by the end I found I still had plenty of ideas to spare. I'm refreshed now and ready for a new start, so tomorrow sees the start of a new P365.

There'll be a change of emphasis in the new one though. I wan't to improve as a photographer, and I think the best way for me to do that is to focus on quality rather than quantity. For that reason I'm going to keep most of my posts to one shot per day. The hope is that by forcing myself to discriminate between pictures I'll become more discerning. This means that a lot of familiar sets on this blog will be going (at least until 2011). I don't think there'll be any macro quizzes, signposts and shop fronts, or long series of shots held together with rambling explanations. I want to produce photographs that speak for themselves rather than needing lots of explanatory text. Also, you'll probably be relieved to know, I hope to cut down on the number of family and cat shots, though there may be times when the temptation is too much ;-)

Anyway I am being self indulgent for one last day, so as well as a word count to make Dr Johnson proud, I've also selected dozens my favourite shots (or rather I've bunged loads in with very little selection) from the last 13½ months.

To those who are celebrating tonight, I hope your party goes with a bang. To ,everyone I hope the new year brings what you wish.

J

busybee36 What a great review of your last year (and an ingenious way of getting round the limit of 30 photos!) You certainly have done a variety of posts. I think limiting yourself to one a day is a good way of being more self-critical and getting just 'that' shot. Look forward to seeing the results. Happy New Year.
busybee36 · 2010-01-01: 02:37
thebronzebow That is two excellent ideas... the collage and the new 365. Wishing you and yours health and happiness in the new year!

????? This collection is really great and I'm very glad to follow you despite late. I wish you all the best for the new year and your new project.

As I got finally an excellent camera (canon 40Dwith a 18-200 lens as a fantastic gift at Christmas) I've been practising with it.
I started to make photos at the age of 11. I never attended photography lessons and I'm not going to start. I always use my instinct. I'm always self-learning. I'll just read the canon manual and some books in the future. That's all.

Take much care, Jon.

etodd80 Great recap of the year here, I missed a lot of them the first time around. You definitely get my award for creativity on your P365. You have always had entertaining and interesting posts. I look forward to seeing how your posts change, but I hope to see a lot of the same style and creativity. I wish you good luck with narrowing the shots to one a day. It will definitely be a challenge!
