... and of the backside of Oscar Deutsch's house.
Those broken white signs in the middle are from when local businesses used to sponsor the planting of flowers on the roundabout. |

bad move..chopping down the trees..should be done as a last resort...they enhance the environment....

Hmmm... I'm never 'for' any type of deforestation... Sooo, I cannot see this is for the best. Nice documentation though.

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." So sad....saddest of all are the birds in the tree in #4.....guess when that's gone they can start perching on the cold concrete....:(

How strange. I can't imagine why trees in a roundabout would be in anyone's way unless they're going to put up a statue or fountain. Too bad.

We are extremely proud of this scheme" ??? "arrive via different forms of transport and get straight into the heart of the town" ???? What sort of backward thinking is this, when every other town in the UK is looking at ways to pedestrianise? You should send every single councillor who endorsed this decision a link to this blog Jon CAN YOU READ THIS, ANNA WAITE ?!! BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE ACROSS SOUTHEND, THE UK AND THE REST OF THE WORLD CAN !!

always a shame to see trees being cut down for some stupid idea. I don't get that woman's explanation one bit, what difference can those trees make to entering from different forms of transportation on this roundabout? It's not as if it's big enough to plant a train or bus station, harbour or airfield there is it. Well i guess she would be an ideal person to go into Belgian politics, she is as daft as our politicians ;-)

Thats a bit odd...I wonder what they plan to do with the round about if they don't want trees there.
