I'm not really one for taking pictures of flowers. It seems to be simultaneously too easy and too difficult. It's too easy because they are so beautiful that pictures of them should automatically good. But its too difficult, because how can you really improve on the original. It takes a truly special photographer to take pictures of flowers and make them look fresh and exciting. That's why I rarely try - I know I'm on a hiding to nothing. I am not of the ability to take shots that good. That said, I am more than willing to learn, so if anyone has any advice it would be more than welcome.

I know, too. I try with flowers in my garden and elsewhere but then I realize the colours often are not the same tone (red becomes almonst pink in my photos, etc.) and it depends of the light intensity, too. So I take shots at different hours of the day to see how colours react... I'm just practising ;-) Your shots are well done anyway and I like them, above all the flower in no.3 has a beautiful intense "original" colour. ????? · 2010-04-18: 04:12

I find flowers very hard. I think it's subject matter that most people can appreciate and therefore think are "pretty" in general; but I personally as a photographer have been challenged by flowers for years. Maybe you have to pretend you like flowers? That's what I started doing. I am not a flower person, but I tell myself I am and that actually makes it easier to try to find original dof and angles.
