I thoroughly enjoyed this session trying to get close ups of the little creatures in and around a rockpool, but found it very challenging. Apart from the fact that these creatures tend to be masters of camouflage and prone to hiding under rocks, there's the conditions. The main issue being that the surface of the water is never flat. I was amazed at the number of miniature eddies that show up in the pictures as annoying grey spots. I'd never been aware of them just looking without a camera. If anyone has any tips on this type of photography then I'd certainly appreciate it.

I always use a circular polarizing lens, and find it particularly helpful taking glare from the surface of water. It's not perfect, but it helps a lot! lgnelson · 2010-08-11: 21:58

hmm I can't help you about that...but well, in north, you'd find more species of animals on the beach..but it is really hard since they have a very good camouflage! I'm even impressed how you found these, since south beaches are not very rocky! superb shots! onlyricky · 2010-08-12: 15:45
