I was with Ben when we stumbled upon this cormorant. Straight away, out came the camera and I started snapping away. As we left, I looked at the pictures I'd taken and was horrified to see that they were JPEGs, not RAW. It seemed that the dial on my camera had moved onto another setting when getting it out of the bag.

As we walked back to the cormorant to get some new shots I said to Ben, "If I was a better photographer, I'd have checked the settings before clicking away and assuming that they were ok". As quick as a speedlight he compounded my sense of ineffectiveness, "If you were a better photographer, you wouldn't need RAW. You'd get things right in the first place"!
