Lavender and Spiky Things

2007.07.10
Some Lavender in a park that was dedicated to Colin Thiele if that is how you spell his name. He is a rather famous author over here.

These are some random photos, the lavender ones were taken during my trip to the countryside, but the spiky things are part of my 'spiky things' collection at home. I am still having a bit of trouble deciding what i want my photos to look like. I can't seem to come to a happy inbetween of natural looking pictures that still look like they aren't just some amatuer photographer going happy snappy, which i guess i am, but i don't want it to look like that. I guess i will work on it.

Sevendipity I see where you are coming from. I have a rule I usually frame 3 to 4 pictures for every one I shoot unless its just an impulsive or action picture. This small discipline means one becomes aware of 'noisy' backgrounds or backgrounds one can use to advantage. Next I search around in the viewfinder for the best angle. If your camera has a depth of field button learn to use that as it can be creatively helpful. I would suggest as an exercise pick one object to practice on and take 20 pictures from various angles, light directions, depth of filed focus and framing. You will learn a lot about your camera and will find your natural style - the place that will become increasingly intuitive and define your photography.
