Inheritance 101

2007.07.12
My grandpa never chucked anything out, so we have a collection of drums sitting outside the petrol shed. They have been there ever since i can remember and they gradually get added to.

This is a huge big tower on my dads property that is used by the emergencry services to extend how far their radio signals travel, it's a huge looking thing, if you get lost you can see it from kilometres away

This is moss growing along the blade of a dozer which is used to clear scrub. It doesn't get used for that anymore, and is just sitting outside in the weather. Hence the rust and the moss i guess.

Some rather scary looking clouds

The old shearers hut. My dad wants to tear this down, but i have always really liked this building. It is old and creeky, but it has a wood stove inside and a really old wooden bench around the sink, which isn't very practical, but i like how it feels.

My grandpa used to be a councellor in this shire, i know that he was mayor for a while, but that doesn't really explain why we have an old wooden caravan with the shire insignia on it. I guess i could ask my dad, but i like the mystery of why it is around. Even better is inside, old paperwork and hundreds of old hubcaps that my grandpa couldn't help himself from collecting off the side of the road.

The side door to the old hut. I know the door frames got painted recently, you should see the sleeping rooms that have lurid blue door and window frames. I don't know what my dad was thinking.

An old red truck that has been sitting in the paddock for not very long, judging by its colour.

A cacti that is still growing strong in my grandmas old garden.

I don't know what it really is, but everyone calls it the 'wind light' it charges the batteries through wind power. I don't know why people don't have stuff like this at home!

Above the fireplace in the hut. The picture has hung there for as long as i can remember and is now all dark from soot and all cracked from heat.

Pig Face.

Some rainwater tanks shoved up against the wall at different times obviously

It looks horribly set up, but this is exactly what the wool throwing table looked like when i walked into the woolshed.

Dags of wool, cut from unsavoury parts of the sheep. Not clean enough to be packed in with the fleeces.

Cacti growing near the shower room

A euphorbia of some description (i believe) growing in my grandmas old garden

Spanners on my dads shadow board.

The same old red truck from before. It was obviously painted by hand. It is a lovely truck though, it would look great done up, but who has time?

I went for a trip out to my dad's station. I drove my grandma out there and we stayed for a night. I had a bit of a chance to run round and take some photos. I didn't make it out of the house paddock. Basically, the title explains it, but in a bit of a bad way. I am my dad's only child. So i guess i stand to inherit a sheep station, not that i would be able to do anything with it!!
