I couldnt help but notice that there are years next to certain citys that indicate the year in which that city was host of the Olympics. Was this taken in an Olympic Village or something?

Yeah I noticed that too. The sign is actually in Berry, South of Sydney. It's attached to the pub that has all sorts of weird memorabilia.
