luminouslens Nice bokeh!! Is this just the kit lens??

It's so funny to see spring flowers on your blog as I and and everyone around me locally is looking forward to autumn foliage. :)

JohnnytheHorse It's getting too hot too early here LL. Spring has hit us with some 30 degree C days so far. Not looking forward to summer.

As to lenses, I didn't buy the packaged lens. I bought the body separately then got this lens

http://www.canon.com.au/products/cameras_lenses_accessories/standard_zoom_lenses/efs17-85mm.html

which is the best decision I could have made. Then I cheaped out and bought

http://www.canon.com.au/products/cameras_lenses_accessories/telephoto_zoom_lenses/ef90_300mmf4.55.6usm.html

which I regret. I should have saved some more money and bought something better.

The 17-85 I can't recommend thoroughly enough.

JohnnytheHorse And now I've looked up Bokeh, thank you.

luminouslens Well, it's great you can get that close with that lens. (You are saying you took this with the 17-85, right?) And I definitely think it's a good idea to get a good lens for a dSLR. Why get a fancy camera and then shoot through a Coke bottle? :)

(Well, I am currently shooting through a Coke bottle but that's because of financial restrictions. But when I upgrade, of primary concern to me is nice bokeh!)

Anyway, you don't have to regret lens purchases. You can always sell them. Also, when it comes to telephoto, you don't have a lot of choice. You pretty much have to cap off at 200 for the lens to be decent (most of the ones that go to 300 seem to get bad reviews) and even then lenses jump way up in price. It's always better to get a lens with a decent lens even if it's not that sharp or contrasty, versus no lens at all, right?
