I stopped by this shop on Fall break on a little excursion to Northeast Minneapolis with my housemate.
We walked in the door to find a very small space. There was a man at one table which could seat about five or six people. Otherwise there was a bar, which could seat perhaps four, next to the counter.
Since there wasn't really space to study, we decided to take a walk to the the Pierre Bottineau library, just a few blocks away. It was a nice study space, connected to the former brewery for Grainbelt Beer
Northeast is a favorite of ours, and I think that Matchbox is a good example of why it's great. The people were really nice, it wasn't too pretty, the selection was solid (teas, prices fine). It's just not somewhere you go to stay, unless it's to chat with the barista.
Small, friendly, locally-owned, not a study place.
Here's a link to their facebook page.
