The father of my father.

2006.12.25

My grandfather spoke Yiddish, Russian, Lithuanian, German and even some Norwegian. I guess he was in his forties when he had to begin learning a new language - English.

This is his old German/English dictionary.

My grandfather and I didn't understand each other well. We lived in the same house when I was a child. He was mostly deaf by then, and never comfortable in English. He had been through such terrible things throughout his life. I was afraid of him.

I misjudged him and this I regret.

PIXELPUNK10010 I have often picked up and old book and seeing the name in the cover, wondered what their story was.

Thank you for sharing yours with us. It was very touching.

SuperG Cats make great assistants, dogs are slobs, alligators are talented, pouring drinks and so forth. Great photos by the way.
