after the movie

2007.02.17

we went for books and tea. Judy Dench is outstanding in Notes on a Scandal.

The first picture is a friend who probably wouldn't want to be identified by name.

I felt strange using my camera, like I could be arrested for taking pictures within the Indigo/Starbucks book theme park. Indeed, I heard one clerk asking the other about policy with reference to me, so I cut it out. It's hard not to take pictures.

I like that adobe 'posterize' feature, and I'm tempted to use it often. I'm sure I'll get over that after a while. I like that it obscures the identity of someone who I photographed without permission.

I had permission to take the picture of the young woman with the long brown hair. I hope she ends up seeing the picture - I like it.

The clerk playing so sweetly with the baby reminded me of a stage in my life where I felt compelled to engage with every baby or child I met. I'm not sure when it changed - that compulsion.

I can identify with the baby - the fascination with faces. I've never lost that.

tortoise I never would have guessed that you have a fascination with faces. Never.

Long brown hair girl has the very definition of a "lights up her whole face" smile. So lovely.

HeatherVres I love that you risk shooting in public-corporate spaces with your very obvious camera. And your shots show no sign of being effect by this risk.

abuxy Lovely portraits. I like the way you're playing with post processing

mhannah55 I love the third one with the girl with the brown hair. The lighting and focus work perfectly with her smile and posture. You definitely have a gift with people and it shows in your photographs of them.

ottosson Love the third one. Brilliant light, good sharpness and nice depth. Seems like the shot is from a movie. It looks very professional. Very good work!
