I also love shepherds and have always had one.. I think it definitely make him look like he's stalking something.... and interesting viewpoint.. and perhaps makes him a little more 'sneaky' looking than I have known shepherds too be - still a beautiful shot!

I agree with what the others said. I think the contrast also makes him look more menacing. I like the blur of the feet on the right side.

the contrast makes him looks menacing as if his hair is raised. The stick in his mouth makes him look playful.

He doesn't actually have a stick in his mouth. Maybe I'll edit the shot to make that more clear. It's something on the ground. Thanks for these comments. I took it as he was meeting a very big dog, and he was doing that cautious run around to the back that shepherds do. They tend to attack from behind. Thanks for the comments. Helps me to know what others see.

Oh, and his hackles are up - that's the fur on his back. He's new to the dog park, I bet.

I just don't care too much to image quality when the photo give me feelings like that...:) A good photo for me is a picture which can give me emotions.

I like the feeling of motion/action in this shot..... It is very interesting and also a bit disquieting...

julia, as usual you can trust your own assessment regarding your pics. this IS an exceptional shot, despite of some of the framing issues. what amazes me is the expression ported just through the animals posture. it's probably a bitch; i've seen this kind of "walk" in my dog, too, when she's approaching another bitch she doesn't know. but it also reminds me... geez: again! of stephen king's story "the sun dog". i hope you didn't take this with a SUN polaroid... did you??
