This is how I gave out candy at halloween this year.

It is only a slight elaboration on the face I catch sight of in the mirror more and more often.

Sometimes I look for her - the spinster, the headmistress.

I called her 'mean' for the kids. She's not really about meanness. She's the shadow of 'nice'. If I try to appear nicer then I am, I get tired. She's my antidote.

Alana came to join me giving out candy. Doesn't she look like the perfect shy boarding school girl to complete the story?

I do catch myself in a mirror with that expression. Except that I have more jowls than you (and a good 10 years on you, I think). I frighten myself for awhile. Then I try to open my heart to others and to joy -- in my imagination. I'm sure the jowls still hang, however!
