*the thing in the trunk is some kind of theatrical costume which he scavenged and brought home for his son to use as a horrific halloween costume. It was a huge hit at the time. This year, he actually sat it in his car with a light shining on it as part of the gory festivities.

I've been editing out some images. that's why the comments might not make sense anymore.
