Paradise Island: Leaving the Ashram
2007.11.16
Omkar is second in command at the ashram. He is not a Swami, but he is on the path to become one. He led meditation and gave a wonderful sermon. He is filled with fervent passion for god. He’s tender and humorous, loving and sweet. When he isn’t acting as a spiritual leader, he’s constantly doing the hard physical labor of the ashram.

If he stays on this path, I imagine he will become a powerful guru one day. I don’t know if a follower will distract him on his spiritual path, but I’d bet my yoga mat that MANY will try.

I had to leave the ashram at 6:30 am to catch the mail boat to my next destination, the island of Eluthera. Kendel isn’t at work yet, so it was a sleepy Omkar who took me from the island to my ship. I’m so glad to have had the chance to speak with him and take these photos before leaving.

From a distance, the massive Atlantis hotel complex, at the other end of the same island as the Ashram. What a contrast!

#2,4,5! On #5 the contrast is even stronger between the hotel complex and the wave barrier!
Isn't that so hard? The hardest thing about travel to a place is saying farewell to those that you became attached... Oh such beautiful shot of the cloud. :)
