practicing portraits

2008.01.16
morning light filtered through a muslin curtain seems to work for faces of a certain age.

Cats! Unwilling to pose in front of the camera, they kept going behind the hanging cloth and wrestling with it, which I didn't notice until after. That's why there are big shadows in the background - they pulled it to one side when I had wanted it to lay flat.

self portrait

I needed a readily available live subject, and my attempts at cat bribery were unsuccessful. I'm working on 'studio' type portraits using natural light, so you might see more of me for a while.

thank YOU :)
Cabecilha · 2008-01-17: 07:10
Nandra I love the gray hair, it gives your face more caracter... maybe some warmer light would add a brighter tone to the skin.
Ohh, and try to put a bird next to the camera... your cat will surely stand still for a while. ;)
Nandra · 2008-01-17: 08:15

Some photographers like to cut head, I don't. But still, #1 is better. #2 is just fun. Keep up practicing!

dweiskir Beautiful work. I really like #3. Great lighting, and I like that the camera is just slightly above eye level. Makes for an interesting portrait. Great work.
