choosing a dance photo for print

2008.01.22

This is the one I'm leaning towards.

I'm trying to choose one photo to print and hang in my psychotherapy office. This is the first time I'm going to print something in a large size and frame it properly.

These are two images I didn't include in the series of Claudia that I posted yesterday. I have chosen to show them quite dark, and that's how I'm thinking of printing them.

I'm interested in your impressions of these.

DancingDolphin I think her movement at the moment you captured it, is more tense in the first and more free in the second. I like the way her shadow shows up in the second shot the entire length of the window light (in the first her shadow is cut off). I like the slightly more subdued light in the second shot.

sunshineand well. i like the way the light hits her shoulder in the first one and the colour of the wood floor.

in the second i like the contrast

kware I like the light on her body better in the first photo - I can tell it's a dancer. With the second image, I have to strain a little bit and really look to see what is going one. Just my opinion, though :)

Janiee I love the first pose but I prefer the second atmosphere and composition,
Hmmm………. Well is difficult….
However, I guess I will take the second photograph.

Pikapol I think that the second one is more energetic.

lexlevans i love both - but i actually think i prefer the first because i like the motion she is making with her arms better than the other one. plus even though there's only a small difference in where she is standing in the light, i like the fist positioning of her feet in the first.

buuuut - that IS just my opinion ;-)

Sheldon I better "vote" now as I leave for a few days and wouldn't want to miss out.

I saw these on 2 very different monitors and it made the choice a little harder. I prefer #1. I find the light just a little brighter (and crisper in the beam) and it makes the floor slightly richer brown. Her pose is nearly a tie but #1 captures most of the length of her arms and her bent knees in #1 add interest.

Things I do prefer about #2 are the waves of her dress and overall height of her figure which gives a delightful uplifting feeling (although the vertical wall line behind her left arm is a slight distraction).

Karibbean wowwww! both are very nice , but I think I like the second one better, I like her posture, and the picture is darker, it's more intimate

Bushman i thing i would choose first one... but i'm not good in it... i've got the same problem :(

backamp Hmm, could you post process the first one (preferred pose for me) a bit to give it the same atmosphere as the second (contrast, isolation, etc)?
backamp · 2008-01-25: 16:47
sandmoon both posts are beautiful... to tell you the truth i would go for n 4 from yesterday's post...because it looks like she is reaching out to someone, and there some of that in psychotherapy, right? its just because of the posture, because for the rest they are all very nicely photographed pics...

prairieflower These shots are so different, it's difficult to choose between them. But in this moment I prefer the first one, as the lighting gives it more depth. I also like how the light on the floor frames the dancer.
And I can't help but comment on her extraordinary calves, in both photos. Wow.

jagungal Both great shots – but I think the second is more immediatley arresting.
