Playback Creatures: warming up to stories

2008.04.05
A night of improvisational theatre, telling the stories of this community. At the start of each evening, the actors and audience warm up with brief vigniettes - snatches of stories and memories.

The theme of this night of Playback Theatre is Creatures Great and Small. Here is the bug in the shower.

The excitement of hunting birds with a slingshot meets with feelings of guilt.

I've got a story/I'm not ready

bugs in the basement

I WANT.

fearful creatures: the fear of a snake and the wish to protect it.

Wonderful creature/damn pigeon

Pigeon hater/wonder of a bird - any city dweller can understand the mixed emotions.

I'll post more playback tomorrow.

The lighting is really poor, I'm afraid - hence the grainy images and poor contrast. Any stage lighting experts on photoblog? Please send me a message and let me know. I'm gathering information about installing an inexpensive theatre lighting system in the community centre where playback is performed. The company deserves the support of better lighting, and I want better pictures!

DancingDolphin That's the right attitude! Don't complain, fix it! I needed better lighting myself yesterday at the Pow Wow... but I'm not volunteering to improve the University's arena! :-)

I don't think grainy is always a bad thing, especially in b/w... looks like fun any way!

Madoc These shots would definitely benefit from greater lighting, but here the grain doesn't change a thing about tha fascinating expressions on these actors' faces that you caught with your always impressive talent.
You really have a passion for portrait and it shows in your art.
I'm more and more deeply interested in portrait too, and I must thank you because your style definitely inspired me.

CJLata I love the black and white and then the move into color.

Emma You always manage to capture such wonderful expressions...

'Inexpensive lighting system'...is there such a thing?!

Is there any chance you could arrange some sort of sponsorship for the lighting system or a shared usage of other community groups, in an effort to share the cost?
