I couldn't stand about in a crowded room any longer, so I left the launch in its early stages. The Paddock was blissfully empty (thanks to the playoffs, I think). What a beautiful little bar it is - all wood and leather and good lighting.

I was looking forward to photographing the launch for Coach House, and a little disappointed when I saw another photographer getting ready to shoot the reading. He had big equipment.

I don't have big equipment. Thinking two photographers up front would be a bit much, I sat down off to the side, and focused on listening to the authors. The readings were great. I took only a few frames. Now, looking at my shots, I'm really happy with them.

Lindyart I love 13 and 21 ... powerful set .. something so moody and good about this one... although I've never seen a set of yours I didn't like ALOT!

Emma Those photographers with big equipment always getting in the way and spoiling it for the rest of us... :)

These are superb Julia. I really love the light.

I took a shot quite similar to your last shot the other day, I wasn't sure if to post it, but I might just go and do that now...

dadlak #1 has the quality of a painting...intriguing and beautiful....#21 makes me thirsty...even though I don't drink lowballs.

allcopacetic I like the richness of the color in the first shot, the warm reds and browns.

basisimages You should be happy with them - they're great! You are so creative. I'm sure you know as well as I do that some of the greatest photographers around use really simple equipment - well, higher quality than I could ever afford, but simple!

tiffany You know, I think one of the things I like about your photos is that you capture people the way they'd like to see themselves.
