Sarah Robichaud made it happen

2008.04.19
Sarah Robichaud, the originator of this event, watches the final run through a few hours before the night begins. Sarah is a dancer and a trainer who has begun teaching a dance and movement class for people with Parkinson's. Sarah initiated this project to raise funds to run more classes (which are free of charge to participants).

Anisa Tejpar and Daniel Macivor watching the run through.

Sarah had been planning to dance a Tango with Andy Barrie. Andy was Sarah's first client with Parkinson's, and together they formed an alliance that was the basis of this project. Unfortunately, Andy couldn't come to perform that night. Sarah is watching the video footage of her and Andy rehearsing their tango number. Though we didn't get to see the final number, the rehearsal footage was hilarious and wonderful.

Sarah got lots of support from her friend Lhara Eben, seen here with her partner Michael Krauss

Daniel and Anisa rehearse the show's grand finale, Last Dance.

There was something about her bubbly, warm energy that was just so nice to be around.

And now the night begins! Sarah Robichaud and Erin Wahl

Dr. Tiffany Chow prepares to be interviewed for a documentary about Dancing with Parkinsons.

Sarah starts the show.

bet you wish you could have seen her tango!

Dr. Chow is a neurologist at Baycrest, and she knows how crucial safe, supported movement is for people with Parkinson's . She's a big supporter of this project.

She did it! Congratulations Sarah. In her speech, Tiffany said "some people would call Sarah a dynamo. I call her a dynamatrix".

This is part two of the photos from the 'Dancing with Canadian Celebs' fundraiser for people with Parkinson's Disease.

The actual dance performance was posted yesterday.

There were many of the people from Sarah's 'dancing with parkinson's' class, friends and family, dancers, entertainers and health care professionals in the enthusiastic crowd. The show was great entertainment. I don't know yet how much money was raised. I'll check in with Sarah about that and post back. Certainly, people's awareness was raised, and it was a fun night.
