I have the worst fear of wasps and your post is giving me hives just looking at the pics!! We had a nest a couple of years ago at the back of the house and the wasps were crawling from underneath the floorboads...urrrgh. Seriously, they are great pics though and kudos to you for being so brave! I like the last pic too; it's good to have someone like that in your life, someone who keeps you on your toes...

i hate when an insect comes to my room and i am afraid of it, but if it is in the nature, i can go so close to them to make a shot. who can understand that? :) great macros! i like 4 and 8 very much!

you have a certain line of masochism inside you... right? as for the bee, it's no challenge. it just tries to survive, and what did you? catch it under a glass... now, if you'd like to tell us something about the anatomy and physiognomies (and possible psychology) of bees, THAT would be a challenge! i'm listening! :-)

Was once stung by a wasp and it hurt...now, the photos are great and the bug beautiful. Nonetheless, I find disturbing the fact of someone taking the pain of writing a paper on stings including such humorous descriptions of pain. :D

Those were outstanding photos and I really feel you did a great job getting the close up. And well as you I guess saw, they are another link that has a valid chain to the balance of this wonderous world. Personally I hate killing any bug, spiders as well. They are only doing what nature intended. As for their sting or bite? Not near as bad as some 2 legged creatures I've met in my 60 years. :)))))

I so appreciate posts like yours that offer so many angles of subject for consideration. And your images of the insect in the goblet are both gorgeous and meaningful. Thank you.
