Authentic Movement

2008.05.06
the studio

These photos were taken at an Authentic Movement retreat last weekend. In this experience, I re/gained trust in my body beyond what I imagined possible. I feel solidly, simply supported in my being, like moss upon a rock.

The workshop was lead by Leslie French, "one of the first people in Canada to develop and teach movement specifically addressed to the needs of actors and theatre artists. She brings [...] a lifetime of being immersed in the relevence and potential of movement investigation to enrich the day to day life and consciousness of the individual." source.

If you are interested in studying Authentic Movement or Sensory Awareness, Leslie French can be reached at LFrench@georgebrown.ca.

The weekend was held at an ecological retreat centre, Harmony Dawn, near Cobourg, Ontario.

I have included a few images of the natural surroundings which were the perfect context for this meditative work.

Participants generously allowed me to bring my camera in for a small segment of the practice. Thanks to each of you who were there.

Emma Oh Julia, these are wonderful. The arrangement flows with ease and so nicely...

The mosaics are also beautiful and give me the impression of nature cocooned around the studio.

It sounds like you had a great learning experience.
