Skateboarding opens my eyes. I see flowing movement, balance, courage, spirit. I'll keep taking pictures at the skateboard park. I'm sure there is a lot more for me to see and to learn how to capture.

As amazing as it is when the moves work, when they don't, the way the skaters recover is even more amazing. they re-balance, they adjust, and when they do fall, they usually do it in a way that lets them get right back up and keep skating.

I'm posting a lot of images. Usually, I edit down to a much smaller number in my posts, but I want the skaters themselves to have the chance to see the images. I gave the link to a couple of people today, and I plan to do that more over the summer. It is a way to give something back (I hope) for the inspiration they give to me.

You're very brave, Julia! I know for experience that these shots are really hard to take (i have a a 13 yeard old skater at home!) Whoa! #2 and 5 stand out to me in this set. The last shot is pretty hot too; such grace... You have such a skill to capture the essence of a skater; both their artistic balance and their cool edginess. Nice work Julia. ????? · 2008-05-28: 08:09

I liked the last one the best- somewhat like equestrians, one of the most interesting things or a sign of the skill of the sk8ter is his/her connection to the board.
