well I like it and they look pretty natural to me. I like their blurry legs. I was trying to take pictures at a party this New year, I gave up in the end because everyone seemed to have their camera radar on and they were too quick for me. I wonder why and for how long people have been doing the Arms around big grin pose. Bizarre in a way. and automatic too.

when you look at the images of the classical european bw street photographers (e.g. Henry Cartier-Bresson or A. Kertész) you might find so many people shots from behind, no faces just the back... so it was and it is not an easy business :/) the american Gary Winogrand (a little later) was not so shy, for his series about women in New York i am not sure he submitted model release forms. however the great Weegee made a better choice as a crime scene photographer :/) your slice deserves more attention though! very well done, and if you do not reveal what happened behind the scenes no one would complain about the smiles :/)

Take the shot without asking. The art is public, they are just incidental to it. They wouldn't even realise they were the actual subject. I suspect you are projecting your concerns into their heads. To them are just a tourist with a camera. It's not personal. I still like the photo though. :)
