06.14.10 -Breakfast Conundrum
2010.06.14
The breakfast conundrum: I've eaten cereal for breakfast for my whole life, except for maybe those Sundays I was either hungover, or had just completed a long run, or completed a long run while hungover. Those mornings require vegetable and cheese omelettes of any sort. And biscuits. Hash browns don't hurt either. Hollandaise is also nice. Mmmmm...
So anyway, cereal is the norm. When I felt the need to mix this up I would just eat a different cereal, like usually it was kashi mixed with smart start, then I might do something crazy like throw in some Life or Quaker Oat squares. Craxy to the nth degree!
However lately, I just don't want cereal. I look at the cereal box and I'm not appetized. I pour the cereal and I make it half way through. I just square don't want it. To remedy this, I started eating unorthodox things like butternut squash ravioli or frozen pierogies, or just plain brie and bread. Not so bad really...
In attempts to eat something somewhat breakfast related I made April's breakfast bars (see: http://gradgastronomy.blogspot.com/2010/02/rolled-oat-breakfast-bars.html) and crumbled them up over some fresh fruit. Fresh fruit on its own isn't enough for me so if I can put sugar and some kind of processed carbohydrate on like what I'm used to (again, used to eating cereal) I feel better.
So far its working...
