I have the best friends ever. My friends the Showmans are our angler experts complete with a boat. They offered to take us out scalloping, an event I've always wanted to try since I heard about it. We rounded up a small crew and ventured about 5 miles out from the St. Marks lighthouse in search for bay scallops. The activity involves a mask and snorkeling, looking for the the tiny white eyes or scallop shells on the seafloor a few feet below, then trusting your instincts and diving down for the grab and hoping nothing else is hunting you. We caught dozens and dozens of scallops - of which I contributed 1 catch. Katie Showman cleaned while Savage, Brian, Ashley, and Sophia contributed to the find, and I mostly laid around and took pictures and fought with my snorkel. At the end of the day the Showman's hosted us for grilled and baked scallops with Parmesan, lemon, and a touch of butter, and I loved every bite of it.
