Today I registered as a Team Leader for the Canadian Cancer Society's 2008 Relay for Life. It's an event I was proud to take part in with my family last June in honour of my Mother's ongoing battle with this horrible disease at the time and everyone else we knew that had been affected by it! This year it will take place on June 6th in the city next to where I live... it's an over night event of walking and other entertainment... the slogan is "Because Cancer Never Sleeps", and it truly is a beautiful, touching and of course fun event that brings so many people together!

Last year at the event I attended they were 1700 people on teams... so that count didn't include people who had shown up to support others! Teams consist of ten people and prizes are given for best flag and best campsite... it's really hard to explain if you haven't experienced it!! This year my goal is to raise $2000!! Wish me luck in my endeavour!! I do this because I believe in giving back! My Mom is my hero and has faced more than I think most people could handle!! I've seen her battle many things head on, and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of her!!....

Love this shot It is wonderful. Love your reasoning behind the post. I too am supportive of the battle against cancer. I am proud to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in my city!
