My best friend's daughter is expecting a baby. Today, there was a shower for her in the Emmaus Room at St. Peter's church. It was a lovely baby shower, complete with good food and equally good company. You know, a room full of women, happily snacking and chatting away.
There came a point during the *festivities*, when each guest is asked to self address an envelope. This will enter you into a door prize drawing.
(Now comes the rant....)
I so dislike this new tradition. Endorses claim it will help the busy bride/new mom in her task to send out thank you notes. I say, Bologna!

You had my address to send out an invitation...address your own envelope.

So, I pretended I had to use the Ladies' room, and on my way there, noticed the doors to the Sanctuary were open. I went in. Mr. G.W. Schnob was there. He is the organist at St. Peter's and he told me there was to be a wedding there within the hour. I asked if I could wander up into the choir loft and he told me, "Yes, go right ahead. There's 27 steps up."

All's I could think was, well then, there will be 27 steps back down.
