More popularly known as Sacred Way, this 3.5 km stretch leads straight to the Ming Tombs. The emperors pass this way to go to the sacrificial altar and upon their death, also go through the same way on their way to heaven. On each side of the road are marble figures, both animals (horse, camel, qilin, etc.) and ministers/generals of the imperial court. There are 18 pairs in all and each one is sculpted from whole stones. Amazing!
