I had a taste of this bbq at the Jenny's 11th Yr Anniversary party for customers and staff. They say that Xinjiang's (which means New Frontier) most popular past time is BBQ with the meat of choice being lamb not pork. Price can range from anywhere from 2 rmb to about 8 rmb per stick for the really thick and prime cuts of lamb. I cannot say this is the best one but I liked it. It has a distinct BBQ flavor quite different from the sweet bbq I've gotten used to back home. To make it really tasty, the skewers are prepared by alternately putting meat then fat, marinating the meat, sprinkling cumin and roasting it in wood not coal which enhances the flavor.
