Buddha's Singing Bowl

Another gift to hubby from his colleagues at work given to him from his recent trip to Chengdu. It was inside an elegantly designed gift box with a card that read it is the sound of Buddha. Singing bowls are historically made not just in China but also in Tibet, Vietnam, India and even Japan (Rin gong). Buddhists use these for healing, meditation and prayers. To create a wonderful vibrating sound, one picks up the mallet and rubs the perimeter of the bowl. It should be played for 13 mins, a magic number, at a time because it brings certain universal essences together. Woah! Now that is interesting! I will try to make beautiful sound with it. For now, its essence is in bringing the kids to me when used as a gong. They suggested I use it if i want them to go down instead of calling them. And yes, so far it has worked!

gilda t garbanzos Wow, I love this Buddha's singing bowl! Two prayer groupmates own similar bowls. We use it to pray and meditate. The sound helps us to "center". It is calming and yes beckoning.
