If Southeast Asia has Durian and Pampanga has buro, China/Taiwan/HK has an equally smelling, equally popular street food, the stinky tofu. It is marinated in a brine of fermented vegetables for several months then cooked in several different ways, steamed, fried, boiled, etc. They say the stinkier it is, the better tasting. Hubby tasted this during dinner in his recent business trip (I forgot the name of the place here in china). Not street food style but presented in a fine dining resto in their hotel. In the list of must eat street foods, this is actually always included. Well maybe i'll try it next time. Depends on the smell...
