Zongzi

Today is Dragon Boat Festival. It would have been nice to have watched a real live dragon boat race but we didn't know where to go for this. We did the next best thing which is to eat zongzi as this traditionally eaten on this day. Legend has it that there's this chinese poet that committed suicide in the river. The locals rushed to their boats to save him. While others threw in rice dumpling wrapped in leaves in the river so the fish will eat this instead of his body. Interesting.

These are sold in hotels and supermarkets much like mooncakes during mid-autumn fest. We got ours as a gift. Thank you! It had a red bean paste filling. It reminded me of suman and ate it with a bit of sugar.
