Knot-making and Paper-cutting
2012.01.12
Because it is almost Chinese New Year, our theme for our third PTA Community Coffee had to do with chinese traditions: knot-making and paper-cutting. It sounds ridiculously easy until we all tried it. It's an ART form alright and takes skill to be able to do right. Add the fact that our teacher shouted out instructions in Mandarin (we had a PTA member translate) and it's all organized but fun chaos! We tried to make the traditional good luck symbol by knotting strings and using push pins as guide in a styrofoam board. For paper cutting, we tried to cut out dragon figures. Complicated but fun!
PS Mine ended up becoming a ball of tangled mess. Photo not shown. Will probably just buy those in tianyi. haha!=)
