Gion, Kyoto - Also called geikos in local dialect, they are professional entertainers that work in teahouses where they perform classical japanese music and dance. We were lucky enough to see them as they were on their way to work. Actually, we were on a mission to go to this side of Kyoto specifically to be able to see them. When we arrived, there were already a lot of us tourists on the sides of the streets with our cameras. We don't really know where they will be coming from. Others couldn't wait and decided to leave but we were patient. It was like waiting for a celebrity and we were the paparazzi. Then when they stepped out it was only for a fleeting two-three minutes before they disappeared.
