Marquette from above

2008.06.15
Hiking up Sugarloaf, we found this rock with ferns growing out of it. I thought it looked like a smile.

This salamander was resting on one of the stairs near the top.

The view of Lake Superior from the top.

Marquette! That's the Superior Dome off to the far right, and the power plant at Presque Isle there just off the center.

Little Presque Isle.

Me and Greg at the top.

I shouldn't have held my arms like that, they look so scrawny.

Greg proudly showing off the view.

This thing is a monument to some guy named Bart. I can't remember his story (there's a plaque at the bottom I should have read more carefully, I guess), but it was placed here by some Boy Scouts, so maybe he was a troup leader? I think he died in a war.

The weather was so beautiful today, but not too hot, so Greg and I decided to hike up Sugarloaf Mountain. I haven't been up there in years. When we get back down, there was a girls' wrestling team practicing in the parking lot before they ran up the mountain. I would not enjoy that at all.
