While we were eating lunch before opening Dayna's presents, we heard sirens. We all ran outside and saw fire trucks drive past. Nahma has like 100 people who live there, so of course, we all wanted to know what was going on. So we walked down the beach to check it out.

It turned out that a storage garage down at these cabins had caught fire. They had a boat and some four-wheelers in it and noticed it as they were just about to leave. Good thing, or who knows when it would have been called in.

Good thing it wasn't a house or anything. I did feel weird taking these pictures because if it were my place and some gawkers showed up and took pictures I'd probably be mad.

Iris, of course, wasn't shy at all about walking right up to where the action was taking place. She is so funny. At one point she was standing right with the firefighters. We were waiting to see if they'd tell her to leave but no one said anything to her.

Then we went back to the house to open presents.
Today Dayna turns 17. It's just insane. I remember so well the day she was born. My mom was supposed to name her Rachel, so when she called me to tell me she was born and said that she'd named her Dayna I was all disgusted. =) |
She'll be a senior this coming school year. When I was a senior, I was a teacher's aide in her first grade class. That makes me feel really old.
