Acho que alguém deveria responder à pergunta :what are all the 'things'. Em português adianto que o rapaz está a segurar uma capa do seu traje académico. E essas coisas, penso que se refere a insígnias, são símbolos da sua universidade, Évora, o seu curso, terra natal, etc. O jovem aparentemente anda numa Tuna e é de Manteigas. Cumprimentos de um colega da Universidade de Coimbra.

Well i think i will try in English. The boy holds a cover of the academic costume. In that cover there are signs, symbols that relate to their University, course, homeland, and so on. Por aí pode-se-lhe tirar a pinta. Bededolas como é normal nos estudantes. :-)
