No shots of breakfast today -- today you get lunch! ;p

Yesterday the weather was nasty and wet; a soup sort of day. So, I went to the little Vietnamese joint a couple blocks from my office and obtained this gigantic steaming bowl of pho.

That's the book I'm reading right now - Pinker's "The Language Instinct." Fascinating stuff; right now it's talking about how children who are raised in a situation with adults who only speak a pidgin (aggregations of words without grammar) end up developing their own fluent grammar among themselves; one way of proving that language is innate.

LOL! I was reading about his sex and gender crap just this morning, actually. This is a new edition - he explains why he's describing this one language as having 16 genders in order to ensure that people are thinking in terms of his obscure linguistic idea of gender as against trying to visualize what sort of odd Venusian genitalia would have to be on the 15th one....
