That is ouch! I'm feeling you pain. I should really learn from this I brought a DVD-RW about six months ago, but still haven't used it. :(

So sorry to hear! Often technicians can save most if not all files from a crashed drive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm not overly upset since I have nobody to blame but myself. My drive has been dying a slow drawn out death and was giving me warnings months ago. I was going to replace it this month, it just put an exclamation point on it for me. I'm running some recovery software right now and have big faith that I will get a lot back. Moral of the story - BACKUP YOUR DATA! And when you start getting regular sector failures, backup that drive and get it out pronto.
