I've said before that my pumpkin doesn't like having her picture taken. Well, today, she asked me to take her pic! After having her 'pose' I came out of it with this one. After I PP'd it, I had her look at it and I told her she looked like a model. Well, her eyes just lit up at that remark!!!
And immediately I think, what have I just done? I mean, I tell her all the time that she is so pretty, but suggesting modelling? Not a road I want her to go down. Girls are bombarded by the media non-stop that they are not pretty enough, skinny enough, hair isn't styled enough, makeup isn't natural enough and they aren't wearing the latest gone-tomorrow-trend to be replaced by the next gone-the-day-after-that-trend, I don't want to encourage her to be part of that industry. I do my best to encourage her to be an individual and that diversity is good, and no matter how similar people seem, we are just as different as we are the same and vice versa.
Having rambled/ranted on about all that, throw some 'Tee's and Short's from $14.99' and this might pass as an Old Navy ad or something like that. After this though I think I'm going to grab some Misfit's shirts and black/white stripped leggings for her. It's all about the balance.
That is all the beauty and difficulty about beeing a parent...just wanting the best for them isn't sometimes enough, love, care, support and so on,are effectively the foundation of an healthy growned up individual. No matter what she will be as an adult i'm positive assured happyness will be in her heart.
