Best of 2007
If you're like me you can't stand that everyone and everything has a top 10 list this time of year. Just as well since I don't have 10 absolutely favourite pictures that I took this year, pictures that either truly mean something to me or that gave me an apiphany. I've got 4 and here I am jumping on the top-list bandwagen...

1) Maturity.

This was the turning point for me as far as realizing that although having good equipment helps, it's the photographer that makes all the difference. Even though I have a Canon 400D/XTi and a bag of lenses, I took this with a P&S digi cam.

2) Film Portrait.

Took this with film. Wow. This is from a low res scan the developer gave out with the processing. When I get around to doing any 'real' portrait work I'm bringing the film Elan and the 50 & 85 f/1.8's. This pic I haven't posted before.

3) Struggle.

The picture that means the most emotionally to me. I made it after pushing the cutest little redhead out of my life and wondering why. Took a lot of introspective study to learn not only why I did what I did but to realize when I was doing it. Doesn't change the fact that she's still the one I think about more often than anyone else. Regrets.

4) Toy Puppy

Although I just got the Holga 135BC in the last week, this toy camera has given me something that is missing from using the dSLR - it turns out funky images, it's lo-fi, it's as simple as it gets - just sorta focus and shoot, and it has the convenience of 135 film. No worrying about image quality or sharpness or even much of composition because the viewfinder doesn't match up with lens very well. I love it - my new carry everywhere cam!
