The color of truth

(The Untrustworthy Speaker by Louise Gluck)

Don't listen to me; my heart's been broken.
I don't see anything objectively.

I know myself; I've learned to hear like a psychiatrist.
When I speak passionately,
That's when I'm least to be trusted.

It's very sad, really: all my life I've been praised
For my intelligence, my powers of language, of insight-
In the end they're wasted-

In my own mind, I'm invisible: that's why I'm dangerous.
People like me, who seem selfless.
We're the cripples, the liars:
We're the ones who should be factored out
In the interest of truth.

When I'm quiet, that's when the truth emerges.
A clear sky, the clouds like white fibers.
Underneath, a little gray house. The azaleas
Red and bright pink.

If you want the truth, you have to close yourself
To her, block her out:
When I living thing is hurt like that
In its deepest workings,
All function is altered.

That's why I'm not to be trusted.
Because a wound to the heart
Is also a wound to the mind.
revenant What a fascinating image and absorbing text. Philistine that I am, I want to know how you took the picture, but as I'm also a cynic, I'd say "truth must be invisible"...
More importantly, I hope this post is just an exploration of the concept, and not a reaction to anything in your life.
Yours truly,

Riyaz Truly amazing Shot! and I am also as curious as Stefan, as to how you took this picture!

"If you want the truth, you have to close yourself to her, block her out:"

Will she know the truth?

yellodog Moving text.

????? To me this drawing involves 3 important elements...a mirror, a prism and a movement.
I believe that the colour comes from natural light and that the shot is taken over no more than 2 or 3 seconds whilst the camera is withdrawn from the mirror...the puzzling part is the placement of the prism which I believe is in the camera...i.e. you have some sort of prismic lens?
(ok I am probably way off the mark...I think my imagination is more powerful than my technical abilities :-))))

????? Ok on 2nd analysis...there is a little post-pro in the fact that the image has been cropped and rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise...I change my mind about movement away from the mirror but do maintain that a mirror and prism are involved...ahh now I see...
the camera is on a pole in front of the mirror. natural light and a 2 second exposure...the camera itself is rotated approx 90 degrees clockwise during the shot...the shot is then turned back 90 degrees anti-clockwise in post production and then cropped slightly to the left as we look at it...I still don't know where the prism is, but maintain that it's in the camera somewhere
Am I close?

davids Melancholy words but such a beautiful image - it's like looking through a kaleidoscope
davids · 2009-08-09: 08:59

It's beautiful!

Lynda To me it's irrelevant how you obtained this image. It's colourful fascinating , both abstract but at the same time looks like the heart of a beautiful flower.

stormfish i try to be quiet, so the truth can emerge - but yet this is such a beautiful riddle; your picture, the accompanying text; that i can only believe i understand.
stormfish · 2009-08-10: 03:46
