The Very Large Array

2008.03.30

I like this one because it shows the scale of them. They're huge!

Repair/Maintenance shed.

...It's very large! lol...I always thought the name was silly. They could have called it the very big array--it's very big.

You may have see it in such movies as Contact, 2010, Independence Day, Armageddon, and most recently, Transformers.

It's about 45 minutes from here, and totally worth seeing if you're in the area.

etodd80 Very cool, I love the wide angle on #1, and the close-up of #2, and the scale of #3, and the education we get from #4. Heck, they are all good shots! That is a pretty funny name, someone wasn't very creative. Looks like a neat place, thanks for the tour!

moonofthewild My favorite is the one in the shed, cuz ya just never see them like that. It makes me look at it more, and the message in the photo is just deeper, suggests another side to the VLA

LotoFoto Great shots!
I always think they're going to come to life and start walking (or at least turn their 'head' toward you lol!)

Delseneas Great shots! they are all good! I would have to agree with Carol on the one in the shed, thats a cool picture! and I can't help but to agree with LotoFoto, LOL! I always thought that they were robots and just came to life at night when no one was around. HEHE!

Madoc If I were closer, I would definitely take the road as soon as possible to be able to see -and photograph!- this surreal and very beautiful landscape.
Your shots are very well done and spectacularly nice.
Especially #1. Superb!
