Truchas, NM

2008.05.02
This is from the tree farm. Note the small trees in the foreground.

This is Truches. Lots of funky little homes/shacks and winding roads that don't go anywhere in particular.

These are from last weekend. I went with my boss (and husband) up to Tooley's Tree Farm to get some fruit trees. The views from Truchas are amazing, but unfortunately it was thinly overcast, which made for very bad photos. :-( I'd love to go back up after a rain, with clear skies and trees and houses!

Truchas is a strange, small little mountain community at least an hours drive from any decent sized town.

I did a small amount of editing to get the sky to be not quite so overexposed, and the mountains to come out a little more...::shrug:: Believe me, they're better than the originals.

SheriJ Awesome!! I would love to be there too! I bet it is just beautiful in person!! great shots!! Over cast days are tough landscape days!!But great for water shots..keeps the water from being blown out.

oldbabe I love visiting tree farms but never been to one in the mountains. I'll bet Truches would be a wonderful place to live. Such a view.

Good luck with the fruit trees. I added a nectarine and dwarf peach to our orchard last weekend and the deer have already eaten down the peach tree to almost nothing.

moonofthewild Such a beautiful mountain range. I love that area and the weird small towns and history of mixed cultures, etc. The first photo is my favorite, with the more dramatic coloring.

Peche I wouldn't have noticed the editing so you did a fantastic job - it's hard to get such sweeping landscape shots without having to do a little bit of work on them to get the detail: what a gorgeous place Truces is!

eljapa I agree with Peche, its always hard to get a good picture with so much contrast in light... They look nice though!

Madoc I haven't seen the original shots, but I can say that you did great editing, where it matters, to make all the beauty of these shots come out as it deserves.
I love the colors and compositions of these landscapes, especially the first one.

focussed arrrgg.the dreaded over=exposed sky....a very tricky thing to get around......these shots are still exceptionally impressive though...the beauty of the scenery shines through.
